Bread of the Mighty Food Bank is a private non-profit organization celebrating 37 years of serving the community. We collect, sort, store, and distribute donated food and basic essentials to 175+ food pantries and feeding programs.
We have a four-county service area - Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy and Union.
Our 25,000-square-foot warehouse has 2,600 square feet of cooler and freezer capacity. We’re on the road five days a week picking up donated food from generous retailers and wholesalers that in turn gets distributed back to the community.
In an effort to keep perishable and fresh items from sitting in our warehouse, our “Food on the Move” program was established. This ensures fresh and perishable items don’t sit in the warehouse and quickly get into the hands of those in need.
In May 2023, our organization proudly joined Feeding Northeast Florida as a branch, expanding our reach to collectively serve 12 counties in Northeast and North Central Florida.
Being part of the Feeding Northeast Florida network provides us with a powerful foundation for success. The collaborative strength and efficiency inherent in this network ensure not only immediate impact but also long-term, enduring success. Together, we strive to make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve, fostering a resilient and nourished community for years to come.
For every $1 donated, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank can provide up to 6 meals.
